Wachuma and Ayahuasca Ceremony in the Amazon Rainforest 6D/5N

Mother Earth through two sacred plants is trying to connect us with ourselves and our divinity and with the divinity of everything that surrounds us. The San Pedro or Wachuma and the Ayahuasca are ancestral concoctions prepared by the shamans of the Andes and the Peruvian Amazon. Ikaro Ayahuasca Retreat has developed a unique itinerary that allows our patients to perform deep healing therapies with Ayahuasca and Wachuma, two of the most powerful and energetic concoctions in the American continent. Have a deep holistic and integrative retreat with our special Wachuma and Ayahuasca ceremony in the Amazon rainforest 6D/5N.

Ayahuasca is «grandmother», a sacred plant of the Amazon, it has a very strong connection with the jungle and the beings of nature. It works with a very high predominance in femininity, so it works on the unconscious in a more introspective way and with a very metaphorical communication. The San Pedro is «the grandfather», a sacred cactus of the Andes, it is also called Wachuma, it has a connection with the cosmos and time. It has a predominantly masculine energy, so it works in the unconscious in a very clear and precise way, with a more visual and direct communication.

If you feel the call of nature and your inner being, do not wait any longer and do this transcendental alternative therapy with Grandma Ayahuasca and Grandpa San Pedro. Our Ayahuasca retreat house is located in the Cusco Amazon Rainforest, which is a magical, safe, immersive, suitable and unforgettable place.

Highlights of our Wachuma and Ayahuasca Ceremony in the Amazon Rainforest 6D/5N

  • The shamans we work with are all from my town, located in the Amazon jungle of Cusco; The tribe to which they belong are known as the Matsigenka and Ashaninka and they have lived for hundreds of years in the Peruvian Amazon. Our healers have many years of experience healing and helping with Ayahuasca.
  • Your safety is our priority, that is why, we include coordinators who will be available 24/7 for you. Our coordinators are trained by doctors and firefighters to solve medical problems. We Also have an agreement with a local hospital to act in case of any emergency.
  • For the retreat place we have, for the shamans that work with us and the logistics that we use in our Ayahuasca retreats; the price of our programs are very affordable, we seek to help and heal people in the most authentic way possible, in an immersive and unforgettable setting.
  • My family has a paradise ranch in the jungle of more than 20 acres that will be all 100% at your disposal; it has crystalline rivers for tubing, bird observatories, medicinal plants, waterfalls, palm tree spots, horses and much more.
  • Be part of our social and environmental projects.
  • The groups are small, from 4 to 10 people maximum; this number of people allows the healer / shaman to have adequate control of the energies and frequencies of all participants.
  • We are located in the Amazon jungle; inside the Manu National park, 5-hour drive from Cusco and Machu Picchu. The amazon jungle is the original and adequate environment to experience this sacred Ayahuasca brew.

From this lookout we officially get in the Manu Park, considered one of the most megadiverse in the planet. After a vegetarian meal, we will descend for 2 hours on bicycles through a beautiful scenery of the cloud forest. We carry out this cycling activity, so that the ride to the retreat house where we will experience the Wachuma and Ayahuasca rituals, is not so long and boring. Once we arrive at the house, we will have a light diet based on vegetables and fruits. Then we start with all the connection activities, which will help you to accept Ayahuasca in a better way. The connective activities with mother Ayahuasca are listed and done in the order in which we will do them.

  1. 2-hour mountain biking (Optional)

Participants who do not want to be in the private car for the 5 hours of transfer from your hotel to the retreat house where we will perform the Ayahuasca ceremonies, have the chance of going down by bicycle for 2 hours.

  1. Meditation by the river

After a light vegetarian lunch, we will go to a section of the river, where we will perform a guided meditation session. Meditation is a millennial practice that allows you to dominate the mind and at the same time attain a state of full consciousness. It is also a technique that reduces stress and increases general well-being. An ancestral activity that allows you to better receive the teachings of mother Ayahuasca.

  1. Dip in the river with vibrational sounds

Later, we can take a soak in the river, which is calm and crystal clear waters. In addition to refreshing us, our Ayahuasquero shaman will also take advantage of this time to play holy sounds with Andean and Western instruments and thus allow your body, mind and spirit to expand and allow the healing and purifying power of water to get in.

  1. Horse ride observing the sunset

In the afternoon we have a contemplation session. In our Ayahuasca house, we have 6 Peruvian Step horses. We will ride these pretty animals observing an integrating sunset and twilight. The integration and contemplation sessions help our Ayahuasca lovers to have an intense connection with Ayahuasca and your inner and divine being.

  1. Meeting with our Ayahuasquero shaman

Later, we will have a gathering with our Ayahuasca shaman. In this meeting, the great benefits of an Ayahuasca ceremony will be discussed, your intentions and objectives to be achieved with the help of the sacred plant and also how to better channel the visions and symbolism of Ayahuasca at the time of the ritual.

  1. Your time Alone

Before performing the first Ayahuasca ceremony, you will have some solo time, so that you can meditate, accentuate your intentions and objectives and prepare yourself in every aspect to receive mother Ayahuasca.

  1. The first Ayahuasca ceremony

Our Ayahuasca ritual starts at 8 pm. and lasts about 6 hours. Throughout the ceremony and until the time you enter your rooms to sleep, our coordinators and our Ayahuasquero healer (shaman), will be on hand to help you in everything that is necessary. Without a doubt, this first experience with Ayahuasca will be magical.

** Ayahuasca is a millennial alternative medicine, used by the Amazonian peoples, therefore the best place for a retreat is the Amazon rainforest. The vibration, energy and frequency of the animals at night, the music of the river and the forest create a magical atmosphere for an intense therapeutic ritual.

NOTE: The rooms are shared by two Ayahuasca lovers and the bathrooms are outside from the rooms, the toilets are shared as well. We have a capacity of 5 twin rooms.

Day 2: Interpretation of your Ayahuasca Visions – Floral Spiritual Bath – Wachuma or San Pedro Ceremony.

  • Family house altitude: 689 meters above sea level.
  • Considered: We will perform many Wachuma and Ayahuasca therapeutic activities, that will help you to have a deeper Ayahuasca journey.
  • Weather: Hot and humid with mosquitoes

The dawn in our Ayahuasca retreat house is stunning. in addition to a pretty sunrise over the Amazon plain, the sound of the 2 rivers that surround the retreat house and the singing of birds create an atmosphere straight out of a fairy tale. This second day is full of learning, purification and contemplation. After a nutritious organic breakfast, we will go to our Maloca (circular structure, built especially for Ayahuasca rituals).

  1. Interpretation of the visions obtained in the Ayahuasca ceremony

All the patients will gather in the Maloca and there, with the help of our coordinators, our Ayahuasquero shaman will elucidate the visions and symbolism obtained in our first Ayahuasca ceremony. The interpretations provided by the shamans are based on their wisdom and experience. To better understand interpretations, first to unlearn and then relearn.

  1. Flowering bath in the river

We will go to one of the rivers to perform a flowering ritual with medicinal and aromatic flowers from the rainforest. Purification bath ceremonies are always performed after an Ayahuasca retreat, since it allows the body, mind and spirit to be purified of energy, frequency and negative vibration.

  1. Wachuma Ceremony

In the afternoon we will go to the banks of the river, where there are some natural wells, a very magical spot in the forest. Here, together with our Wachuma healer, we will carry out the Wachuma ceremony in direct contact with nature. The San Pedro or Wachuma is a sacred plant that allows you to enter into harmony and divinity with the natural elements that surround us and find love in them. Imagine how magical it can be to perform this ceremony in a place as powerful and energetic as our Ayahuasca retreat house. This Wachuma ceremony has a duration of 4 to 6 hours

** Keep in mind that Ayahuasca and Wachuma works differently in each spiritual being and one thing is to have an appreciation of Ayahuasca based on the experience of your friends or the books you have read and the one you will have once you start on this journey of spiritual and healing, with these sacred alternative medicines.

Day 3: Meditation Observing the Sunrise – Medicinal Plant Trail – Yoga in the River Bank – Second Ayahuasca Ceremony.

  • Considered: We will perform a second encounter with sacred Ayahuasca
  • Weather: Hot and humid with mosquitoes

Our coordinators will wake you up with a fresh papaya smoothie and after you have got ready we will go to a grassy spot where we will do an incredible activity of integration and preparation for our second Ayahuasca therapeutic retreat.

  1. Munay Meditation

This is an ancient Andean meditation technique that allows you to feel the frequency energy and vibration of Mother Earth (called Pachamama in Peruvian territory). We will carry out this guided meditation observing the sunrise and barefoot feeling the frequency of the earth and the grass.

  1. Medicinal plant trail

After a nutritious vegetarian breakfast, we will take a 3-hour hike into the woods. A local guide, along with an English interpreter, will lead us through a path where there is a huge range of medicinal and sacred plants. We will learn about the importance of plants for the indigenous population and also about their healing properties and benefits for the world. You will be able to see, touch, smell and learn about more than 20 plants on this eco tour.

  1. Yoga in the river bank

After a light diet, we will go to the banks of the river to carry out a guided session of Kundalini yoga. This type of yoga instructs you to have conscious control of the mental, physical and nervous energies of the body with the idea of making the most of them. It is an ancient technique that is also known as the Yoga of Consciousness, and is considered one of the most powerful styles: According to many experts, 12 years of Hatha Yoga practice is equivalent to 1 year of Kundalini Yoga practice.

By and large, we can tell you that practicing Kundalini will help you control your breathing and focus your thoughts, while the postures serve to balance the glandular system and strengthen the nervous system. This practice will help channel Ayahuasca in a deeper way.

  1. Second Ayahuasca ceremony

At night we will go to our Maloca and we will begin with our second healing ceremony with Ayahuasca. Ayahuasca treats in each ceremony different physical, mental and spiritual aspects that need to be healed.

** Mother Ayahuasca will receive us for the second time in her lap and will show us the way to a life full of love, happiness and complete integration.

Day 4: Interpretation of Ayahuasca Teachings – Flowering Bath – Visit a Wild Animal Rescue Center – Wood Lookout.

  • Family house altitude: 689 meters above sea level.
  • Considered: We will carry out for the second time many activities of purification and contemplation after an intense Ayahuasca ceremony.
  • Weather: Hot and humid with mosquitoes

How incredible! We are already on the fourth day of our healing retreat with the sacred plants of Ayahuasca and Wachuma. Today will be another day of rebirth, cleaning, growth and contemplation of our divine being and everything that surrounds us.

  1. Interpretation of Ayahuasca visions

After a yummy vegetarian meal, we will go to a circular structure so that our Ayahuasquero healer will give us the interpretation of the Ayahuasca revelations, received the night before. The visions perceived during an Ayahuasca intake usually act as metaphors or allegories, similar to how dreams capture remote places of the unconscious in images. There are prevalent patterns in Ayahuasca visions: animals (especially snakes and felines), images of death and rebirth, and flying beings to name a few.

  1. Andean flowering bath

After the Ayahuasca interpretation session, we will go to one of the crystal clear rivers that we have in the estate to perform a ceremony of spiritual and corporal purification. The flowering baths are a tradition of the Andean culture practiced since time immemorial, with this ritual it is sought to eliminate the negative that invades a person, and to be clean of frequencies and negative energy. A flowering bath is always recommended after an Ayahuasca retreat so that the healing is more effective.

  1. Visit to a wild animal rescue center

After a tasty organic lunch, we will board our private car for 45 minutes to a place that will bring us much contemplation for the animals of Pachamama. In this wild animal rescue center, we will be able to appreciate: macaws, monkeys, alligators, turtles, tapirs, wild pigs, toucans and many other species. This rescue center has been working for more than 10 years, rescuing and inserting wild animals rescued from illegal traffickers and forest fires into their natural habitat.

  1. Sunset lookout

In the afternoon, we will return to our retreat house and after a short rest, we will walk for 10 minutes to a 10-meter lookout, made of wood and located on a small hill. From this viewpoint we will glimpse a beautiful sunset over the vast Amazon plain. We will also have an incredible chance to observe birds, which will be returning to their homes after their daily work. At night, and after a day full of purification and contemplation activities, we will have dinner and sleep.

** Ayahuasca is an Amazonian brew used constantly in the Amazon as it has been proven by millions of patients that it is capable of solving many bodily, mental and existential problems.

Day 5: Kundalini Yoga at Dawn – Hike Through Primary Forest – Wachuma Ceremony.

  • Family house altitude: 689 meters above sea level.
  • Considered: Another day of healing therapy with the Wachuma
  • Weather: Hot and humid with mosquitoes

We will wake you up with an herbal mate and prepare for a day full of unconditional love and wisdom with an integrating Wachuma ceremony.

  1. Kundalini yoga at sunrise

Kundalini Yoga is considered the original yoga, being its most dynamic exercises. The practice of Kundalini Yoga favors the development of attitudes that lead us to achieve well-being, emotional balance and happiness. We will carry out this activity in the middle of the retreat house and receiving the healing rays of the sun.

  1. Hike through primary forest

We will walk for 2 hours through a forest full of large trees, streams and many species of birds. Finally, we will arrive at a 9-meter waterfall, where we will have a short Munay meditation session. This meditation next to a waterfall will open all your senses and make you more receptive to the medicine.

  1. Wachuma ceremony

San Pedro is a type of ancestral medicine that is responsible for integrating us with unconditional love with everything around us. Imagine how magical our Wachuma ritual will be next to a beautiful waterfall. This ceremony lasts approximately 6 hours. At all times our shaman master and our coordinators will be helping our patients in everything they need. After our ceremony with this powerful alternative medicine, we walk back for 1 hour to our retreat house.

  1. Bonfire to share teachings

At night we have a ceremony around the sacred fire, this activity is carried out in order to share the teachings of mother Ayahuasca and father Wachuma. Patients who feel very tired after the Wachuma ceremony have the option of going to sleep directly.

Day 6: Interpretation of Ayahuasca Teachings – Flowering Bath – Plant your Tree – Cusco.

  • Family house altitude: 689 meters above sea level.
  • Considered: We will perform a second meeting with mother Ayahuasca
  • Weather: Hot and humid with mosquitoes

After a nutritious breakfast, we will enter our Maloca so that our shaman will help us decipher the symbolism and the visualizations obtained in the Ayahuasca ceremony. Later we will go to the river to perform a purification ceremony with Amazonian plants and flowers. After some free time for your own contemplation, we will go to plant a native tree or an Ayahuasca vine. This tree will be yours forever, we will take care of its care and maintenance and we will send you annual photos of its growth. This activity also helps us to reforest parts of the Manu National Park depredated by illegal loggers. At noon we will have a delicious typical lunch of the Peruvian jungle and then we will board our van back to Cusco, where we will arrive around 7:00 pm.

** Unfortunately our transcendental journey of healing with this ancestral concoction of Ayahuasca in our retreat house has ended, however a more holistic lifestyle has just begun for all of you.

Our bodies are full of toxic and inorganic substances that will not allow us to receive mother Ayahuasca properly. The vast majority of the foods that we currently consume contain large amounts of preservatives, so a proper diet for at least a week before the Wachuma and Ayahuasca retreat is recommended to better channel the teachings of this powerful ancestral medicine.

Ayahuasca expert Alan Shoemaker expanded on this idea; in his book: «Ayahuasca Medicine, the Shamanic World of Amazonian Sacred Plant Healing». Plant diets are designed to help a person connect with plant spirits and develop new healing abilities, vision, and knowledge; that require a lot of time, in solitude and with a strict dietary regimen. When you follow a strict required diet, you become more accessible to the spirit world.”

Tranquilize or cleanse the body to achieve a spiritual state; It will be a familiar idea to anyone who has practiced yoga. Yoga asana such as physical positions such as: downward facing dog or child’s pose; These poses were originally designed for the purpose of preparing your body for meditation. Like the effect of the asanas on meditation, the physical preparation of the Ayahuasca pre-diet; it goes hand in hand with being able to psychologically prepare for the healing experience.

Cleansing yourself of toxins gives you a great boost in the Ayahuasca journey; because, as Vincent Ravalee explains in the book entitled: «The Psychotropic Mind». All the toxins that we accumulate during our daily life, are the first things that Ayahuasca will attack.

When you cleanse those toxins in advance, it is easier for Wachuma and mother Ayahuasca to work in your body; because there are fewer «barriers» to cross. By following the diet, you ensure your ability to get the most out of your trip; and reach deeper levels of spiritual psychic understanding.

Each shaman, Ayahuasquero or Ayahuasca retreat varies in specific restrictions. In the Huacaria community we have a series of physical, emotional, mental and spiritual diets that you must follow rigorously to have a deep and healing experience with Ayahuasca.

Our Matsigenka Restrictions are:

Proper body preparation reduces the risks of experimenting, difficulties and intense purging during the ceremony with the mother Ayahuasca. In addition, to following a proper diet, you show your commitment and intentions to heal yourself and know your own divinity.

Foods Containing Tyramine.

Ayahuasca, specifically; the Banisteriopsis Caapi, which is a vine plant, and one of the principal ingredients in the Ayahuasca brew. Is an MAO-inhibitor, meaning it temporarily inhibits the activation of the monoamine oxidase (MAO) an enzyme that is essential to process the amino acid tyramine.

if you ingest an MAO inhibitor, such as: Ayahuasca and eat foods high in tyramine; it can quickly reach dangerous levels. This can cause a severe increase in blood pressure and require emergency treatment.

You should avoid products that contains tyramine; 2 weeks before the Ayahuasca retreat and 1 week, after taking it.

  • Pork.
  • Red meat.
  • Aged cheeses.
  • Pickles.
  • Wine.
  • Sausages.
  • Fermented foods like soy sauce, fermented tofu, and sauerkraut.
  • Yogurt.
  • Alcohol.
  • Nutritional supplements, like protein powders.
  • Aspartame.
  • Chocolate.
  • Peanuts.
  • Walnuts.
  • Chicken liver.
  • Soy.
  • Bananas.
  • Avocado.
  • Caviar.
  • Herring.
  • Spinach.
  • Gig.
  • Coconut.

The best way to prepare our temple, that is, our body, is to eat a diet rich in organic foods. Foods that contain preservatives are not recommended at all for a proper and healthy diet before an Ayahuasca ceremony. It is recommended to follow a diet based on fruits, vegetables and seeds.

Other foods you should avoid:

In addition to foods high in tyramine, you should avoid condiments, very acidic foods, salt and sugar in excess; these contain toxins that are difficult to eliminate from our body, and also that obstruct the purgative and healing energy of plant medicine.

Avoid all Type of Animal Products

Currently many animals used as a source of food, are full of chemicals; from vaccines, antibiotics to hormones, and are raised and slaughtered inhumanely.

Unless you are consuming organically raised animals or wild animals from the jungle. It is best to avoid any industrialized animal product.

It is mandatory not to consume industrialized products or animals; because you consume not only the substance of those foods, but also the energy of them. So, if you consume an animal, which was full of inorganics and chemicals and spent its entire life miserably crammed into a pen or barn; only to finally be slaughtered, in masse, in a mechanized way, you also ingest the negative energy and traumatic experience of that animal.

Prescription Drugs

3 weeks leading up to the Wachuma and Ayahuasca ceremony in the Amazon rainforest 6D/5N; we strongly suggest that you stop the following prescription drugs:

  • Antidepressants like SSRIs.
  • MAO-inhibitors.
  • Sleep medications.
  • Barbiturates.
  • Alpha- and beta-blockers.

Street Drugs

These includes:

  • Cocaine.
  • Alcohol.
  • Cigarette.
  • Amphetamines.
  • Heroin.
  • Cannabis.
  • MDMA.
  • Ecstasy.
  • LSD.

Sex and Masturbation

Avoiding a sexual and energetic exchange 2 weeks before and after an Ayahuasca retreat is essential for a better experience.

Sex, masturbation or even any exchange of bodily fluids, energetic and spiritual, can deplete the energy support available to you and thus inhibit the effectiveness of the sacred plants to teach and guide you.

Mental Preparation

The mental, emotional and spiritual diet is as important as the physical diet for a successful ceremony with the mother Ayahuasca. In our Huacaria village, the mental preset would include staying in relative solitude and minimizing useless chatter and gossip. In industrialized countries; a modern diet would definitely include: a fast from videos, TV, radio, movies, news, and social media.

You should spend as many days as possible, before your Ayahuasca ceremony, doing activities such as: meditation, mindfulness practice and yoga to mention a few. Contemplation walks through forests, mountains, riverbanks, ocean shores. Also take a walk at sunrise and sunset to receive solar energy, walk at night, it is much better if it is a full moon, so you fully receive the energy of the stars and planets. Start connecting directly with nature, even before your appointment with Ayahuasca.

It is very risky and can bring you a bad experience; if you don’t do your diet responsibly and strictly.
