Highlights of our 5-day Ayahuasca in Cusco jungle

* The shamans we work with are all from my town, located in the Amazon jungle of Cusco; The tribe to which we belong is known as the Matsigenka and we have lived for hundreds of years in the Peruvian Amazon. Our healers have many years of experience healing and helping with Mother Ayahuasca.

* Your safety is our priority, that is why, we include coordinators who will be available 24/7 for you. Our coordinators are trained by doctors and firefighters to solve medical problems. We Also have an agreement with a local hospital to act in case of any emergency.

* For the retreat place we have, for the shamans that work with us and the logistics that we use in our Ayahuasca retreats; the price of our programs are very affordable, we seek to help and heal people in the most authentic way possible, in an immersive and unforgettable setting.

* My family has a paradise ranch in the jungle of more than 20 acres that will be all 100% at your disposal; it has crystalline rivers for tubing, bird observatories, medicinal plants, waterfalls, palm tree areas, horses and much more.

*Be part of our social and environmental projects.

*The groups are small, from 4 to 10 people maximum; this number of people allows the healer / shaman to have adequate control of the energies and frequencies of the participants.

*We are located in the Amazon jungle; inside the Manu National park, 5-hour drive from Cusco and Machu Picchu. The amazon jungle is the original and adequate environment to experience this sacred Ayahuasca brew.

*Our Ayahuasca Retreat includes incredible activities to connect you deeply with nature, the universe and your divinity (see the activities in the itinerary).

Finally, we will start with this healing journey in an authentic and very energetic Ayahuasca retreat to perform healing ceremonies. The activities are described in the order in which they will be carried out.

  1. Mountain biking

We will be driven for 2 hours and 30 minutes to the beginning point of one of the most mega-diverse national parks in the world, Manu. Upon arrival at this place we will have an outdoor breakfast and get ready to descend by bicycle for 2 hours from the Andean mountains to the cloud forest of the Peruvian Amazon. The panorama that you have during this 2-hour descent by bicycle is stunning. In addition to the dreamlike views, you will have the opportunity to observe many animals on your journey, among them: the cock of the rock, the Andean motmot, the Andean guan, toucans, monkeys and more. Afterwards we will board our private car for 1 hour to the Ayahuasca retreat house. The cycling activity is optional and is done, so that the trip to our family home, where we do the Ayahuasca retreats is not so boring.

  1. Meditation on the banks of the San Miguel river

After a nutritious and organic diet lunch, we will go to the San Miguel River for a meditation session guided by one of our coordinators. Meditation, in addition to relaxing and connecting with your inner being, also allows you to have better control and concentration when performing the Ayahuasca ceremony.

  1. Powerful sounds and shower in the river

Immediately after the meditation session, you have the opportunity to take a refreshing swim in the beautiful and crystal clear San Miguel River. In addition to refreshing and cleaning yourself physically, our shaman will play musical instruments that will also allow you to cleanse you spiritually. This activity allows you to be more and more ready to receive the healing energy of Ayahuasca.

  1. Horseback riding watching the sunset

Once we return to the Ayahuasca retreat house, we will change and rest for a while. Later we will go to the 2-acre patio, which we have in the farm to have a guided horseback riding session observing the incredible sunset of the Amazon jungle and the twilight. An activity that will calm your soul and make you more receptive to the teachings of mother Ayahuasca.

  1. Meeting with the shaman

We will have a meeting with the shaman who will perform the Ayahuasca ceremony. In this meeting you have the opportunity to resolve many doubts and concerns.

  1. Your moment alone

After the meeting with the shaman, you will have free time for you to reflect on your intentions when performing Ayahuasca, meditate, visualize and concentrate for the ceremony.

  1. First Ayahuasca therapy

Around 8 pm. We will walk for 2 minutes to our Maloka (circular construction made especially for Ayahuasca ceremonies). The ceremony with the mother Ayahuasca will last approximately 5 to 6 hours, the duration is variable. During the ceremony, our coordinators and your shaman will be all the time taking care of you and your experience.

** Ingesting Ayahuasca in the Amazon jungle is the best place to have a deep connection with nature and the universe. The sounds of animals at night, the music of the river and the forest create a magical atmosphere of energetic frequencies.

NOTE: The rooms are shared by two Ayahuasca lovers and the bathrooms are outside the rooms and are shared as well. We have a capacity of 5 twin rooms and 5 bathrooms.

Day 2: Ayahuasca Visions Interpretation – Andean Flowering Bath – Wild Animal Rescue Center – Second Ayahuasca Ceremony.

  • Family house altitude: 689 meters above sea level.
  • Considered: We will perform many Ayahuasca spiritual activities, that will help you to have a deeper Ayahuasca experience.
  • Weather: Hot and humid with mosquitoes.

Our second day at the Ayahuasca retreat in the Amazon jungle of Cusco, begins with a very nutritious and organic vegetarian breakfast, which will help you recover the energies depleted in the Ayahuasca ceremony. Today will be a day of much learning, contemplation and purification.

  1. Ayahuasca Teachings Interpretation

After recharging our energies, we will have a special session with our shaman, who will give us the spiritual and symbolic interpretation of our visions provided by mother Ayahuasca. Our shaman will also give us her point of view and the way in which we can use the first teachings of Ayahuasca in our daily life.

  1.  Andean Flowering Bath

The flower bath is a ceremony used by civilizations around the world for hundreds of years. This session will allow you to eliminate all the negativity, stress and negative frequencies that we have acquired day by day. After this ceremony you will notice that you feel more liberated, relaxed and with more clarity when thinking.

  1.  Animal rescue center

After a delicious buffet lunch, we will board our private van for 40 minutes to the wild animal rescue center. In this place we will have the opportunity to contemplate our younger brothers who were rescued from animal traffickers and fires that occur in the Peruvian Amazon. Great opportunity to observe many animals that we have even been able to visualize in our Ayahuasca ceremony. The animals found in this place are: ocelots, tapirs, wild pigs, monkeys, toucans, alligators and turtles to mention a few.

  1.  Bird observatory

Once we have returned to the farm, we will rest for a while and then we will go to our bird watching tower, located 10 minutes from the farm. From this place we will appreciate flocks of macaws, parrots and many other birds returning home after having completed their daily work. We will also observe from a privileged point a beautiful sunset and twilight over the vast Amazon plain. At night and after dinner, we will share a moment with all the Ayahuasca lovers, some beautiful Amazonian tales and stories based on Ayahuasca experiences.

  1. Second Ayahuasca Ceremony

After having trained your mind, body and breathing technique, we are ready to experience the teachings that mother Ayahuasca has for you. Remember that Ayahuasca attacks or faces different targets each time a person performs a ceremony.

** After an Ayahuasca retreat many thoughts, ideas and visualizations come that need to be interpreted and contemplated correctly. This second day will also be very important for all of us.

Day 3: Meditation Under the Sunrise – Medicinal plant trail – Yoga in the River Bank – Campfire to share teachings.

  • Family house altitude: 689 meters above sea level.
  • Considered: We will perform many Ayahuasca healing activities, that will help you to have a better Ayahuasca journey.
  • Weather: Hot and humid.

Our third day at the Ayahuasca retreat house, is the second time that Mother Ayahuasca shows us her unconditional love, wisdom and advice. Every time we are better prepared to receive the healing energy of this alternative Amazonian therapy.

  1. Meditation watching the sunrise

Our coordinators will wake you up with a refreshing organic papaya smoothie. After you have got ready, we will go to a special place in the farm to perform a guided meditation ceremony receiving the powerful and healing energy of the sun. Our body produces vitamin D when the skin is exposed to direct sunlight. This is why it is often called the “sunshine” vitamin. Having the body harmonized with nature and its energy allows us to have a better experience when ingesting Ayahuasca.

  1. Medicinal plant trail

After an organic and varied dietary breakfast, we will hike for 2 hours through a path full of trees, flowers and medicinal bushes. Our local guide together with our interpreters are in charge of providing you with interesting information about the medicinal power of other plants of the Peruvian Amazon. Undoubtedly the Ayahuasca mother will be happy to know that you will be touching, smelling and learning about the healing power of her other younger sisters and brothers.

  1. Free Time

After having learned more about the medicinal properties of other plants, you will have a moment of relaxation. You can bathe in the crystalline rivers of the farm, explore other surrounding areas, pick the organic fruits that we grow, go cycling, write, sing or talk with our shamans.

  1. Yoga by the river

After a light vegetarian lunch and some digestion time, we will go in our private car to the banks of a river, where we will have a guided Yoga session. Yoga is a practice that connects the body, breath and mind. This practice uses physical postures, breathing exercises, and meditation to improve overall health. This activity is very important for a more intense journey in an Ayahuasca retreat.

  1. Campfire to share Ayahuasca teachings

We will make a campfire and all the Ayahuasca lovers gather around it, to share everything learned in the 2 Ayahuasca ceremonies. It will be a time to share experiences under the power of fire and spectacular sounds of the drums played by our shamans.

** If the first time you connected with Ayahuasca you were shy, nervous or not so sure about the healing journey you were undertaking, we are sure that in this second experience you will have much more confidence and desire to meet Grandma Ayahuasca again.

Day 4: Interpretation of Ayahuasca Visions – Amazon Flowering Bath – Meditation on stones in the river – Third Ayahuasca Ceremony.

  • Family house altitude: 689 meters above sea level.
  • Considered: The pretty setting of our farm will allow you to connect 100% with the activities of contemplation and love that we will develop today.
  • Weather: Hot and humid.

1. Interpretation of the visions of Ayahuasca

After an energizing smoothie of organic fruits from the region, we will go to our Maloka. Place where our shaman, with the help of our coordinators and translators, will interpret the visions and symbols that Ayahuasca has revealed to you. From experience I can tell you that the interpretation of visions is just as important as the ceremony itself.

2. Amazonian Flowering Bath

It is always necessary and highly recommended to perform a cleansing and purification ceremony after an Ayahuasca retreat. Ayahuasca will not only teach you but will also eliminate many negative aspects that have been built into your daily life. The flowering bath performed by our shaman aims to physically and spiritually eliminate all kinds of toxic elements that are disturbing you.

3. Munay Meditation

In the afternoon we will walk 30 minutes to a spot by the river, where we will do a Munay or unconditional love meditation. This guided meditation will be done in the middle of the river and on stones. Without a doubt, this session will be very special, since you will not only connect with the relaxing sound of water but also with the magical sounds of the forest.

4. Third Ayahuasca ceremony

After the 2 previous Ayahuasca ceremonies, now our body, mind and spirit are much more prepared to correctly interpret all the teaching and holistic integration that Ayahuasca has for us.

** For participants who consider that they need an extra Ayahuasca retreat. It is possible to do one more Ayahuasca therapy tonight; However, this possibility will be analyzed and approved according to your needs, by our shaman.

Day 5: Parrot and Macaw Trail – Plant your Tree – Cusco.

  • Family house altitude: 689 meters above sea level.
  • Weather: Hot and humid.

Our last day in a magical and unforgettable place, the hacienda house where we carry out the Ayahuasca retreats is a unique, energetic and very powerful place. You will leave our retreat very happy, after having connected with our divinity, our inner being and the divinity of mother earth and our universe.

After woken you up with a cold fruit smoothie, you will get ready to hike for 3 hours along a beautiful trail surrounded by palm trees that host dozens of parrots and macaws. Ayahuasca Pre-Diet

Our bodies are full of toxic and inorganic substances that will not allow us to receive mother Ayahuasca properly. The vast majority of the foods that we currently consume contain large amounts of preservatives, so a proper diet for at least a week before the Ayahuasca retreat is recommended to better channel the teachings of this powerful ancestral medicine.

Ayahuasca expert Alan Shoemaker expanded on this idea; in his book: «Ayahuasca Medicine, the Shamanic World of Amazonian Sacred Plant Healing». Plant diets are designed to help a person connect with plant spirits and develop new healing abilities, vision, and knowledge; that require a lot of time, in solitude and with a strict dietary regimen. When you follow a strict required diet, you become more accessible to the spirit world.”

Tranquilize or cleanse the body to achieve a spiritual state; It will be a familiar idea to anyone who has practiced yoga. Yoga asana such as physical positions such as: downward facing dog or child’s pose; These poses were originally designed for the purpose of preparing your body for meditation. Like the effect of the asanas on meditation, the physical preparation of the Ayahuasca pre-diet; it goes hand in hand with being able to psychologically prepare for the healing experience.

Cleansing yourself of toxins gives you a great boost in the Ayahuasca journey; because, as Vincent Ravalee explains in the book entitled: «The Psychotropic Mind». All the toxins that we accumulate during our daily life, are the first things that Ayahuasca will attack.
When you cleanse those toxins in advance, it is easier for mother Ayahuasca to work in your body; because there are fewer “barriers” to cross. By following the diet, you ensure your ability to get the most out of your trip; and reach deeper levels of spiritual psychic understanding.

Each shaman, Ayahuasquero or Ayahuasca retreat varies in specific restrictions. In the Huacaria community we have a series of physical, emotional, mental and spiritual diets that you must follow rigorously to have a deep and healing experience with Ayahuasca.

Our Matsigenka Restrictions are:

Proper body preparation reduces the risks of experimenting, difficulties and intense purging during the ceremony with the mother Ayahuasca. In addition, to following a proper diet, you show your commitment and intentions to heal yourself and know your own divinity.

Foods Containing Tyramine.

Ayahuasca, specifically; the Banisteriopsis Caapi, which is a vine plant, and one of the principal ingredients in the Ayahuasca brew. Is an MAO-inhibitor, meaning it temporarily inhibits the activation of the monoamine oxidase (MAO) an enzyme that is essential to process the amino acid tyramine.

if you ingest an MAO inhibitor, such as: Ayahuasca and eat foods high in tyramine; it can quickly reach dangerous levels. This can cause a severe increase in blood pressure and require emergency treatment.

You should avoid products that contains tyramine; 2 weeks before the Ayahuasca retreat and 1 week, after taking it.

  • Pork.
  • Red meat.
  • Aged cheeses.
  • Pickles.
  • Wine.
  • Sausages.
  • Fermented foods like soy sauce, fermented tofu, and sauerkraut.
  • Yogurt.
  • Alcohol.
  • Nutritional supplements, like protein powders.
  • Aspartame.
  • Chocolate.
  • Peanuts.
  • Walnuts.
  • Chicken liver.
  • Soy.
  • Bananas.
  • Avocado.
  • Caviar.
  • Herring.
  • Spinach.
  • Gig.
  • Coconut.

The best way to prepare our temple, that is, our body, is to eat a diet rich in organic foods. Foods that contain preservatives are not recommended at all for a proper and healthy diet before an Ayahuasca ceremony. It is recommended to follow a diet based on fruits, vegetables and seeds.

Other foods you should avoid:

In addition to foods high in tyramine, you should avoid condiments, very acidic foods, salt and sugar in excess; these contain toxins that are difficult to eliminate from our body, and also that obstruct the purgative and healing energy of plant medicine.

Avoid all Type of Animal Products

Currently many animals used as a source of food, are full of chemicals; from vaccines, antibiotics to hormones, and are raised and slaughtered inhumanely.

Unless you are consuming organically raised animals or wild animals from the jungle. It is best to avoid any industrialized animal product.

It is mandatory not to consume industrialized products or animals; because you consume not only the substance of those foods, but also the energy of them. So, if you consume an animal, which was full of inorganics and chemicals and spent its entire life miserably crammed into a pen or barn; only to finally be slaughtered, in masse, in a mechanized way, you also ingest the negative energy and traumatic experience of that animal.

Prescription Drugs

3 weeks leading up to the Ayahuasca ceremony; we strongly suggest that you stop the following prescription drugs:

  • Antidepressants like SSRIs.
  • MAO-inhibitors.
  • Sleep medications.
  • Barbiturates.
  • Alpha- and beta-blockers.

Street Drugs

These includes:

  • Cocaine.
  • Alcohol.
  • Cigarette.
  • Amphetamines.
  • Heroin.
  • Cannabis.
  • MDMA.
  • Ecstasy.
  • LSD.

Sex and Masturbation

Avoiding a sexual and energetic exchange 2 weeks before and after your Ayahuasca retreat in Cusco is essential for a better experience.

Sex, masturbation or even any exchange of bodily fluids, energetic and spiritual, can deplete the energy support available to you and thus inhibit the effectiveness of the sacred plants to teach and guide you

Mental Preparation

The mental, emotional and spiritual diet is as important as the physical diet for a successful ceremony with the mother Ayahuasca. In our Huacaria village, the mental preset would include staying in relative solitude and minimizing useless chatter and gossip. In industrialized countries; a modern diet would definitely include: a fast from videos, TV, radio, movies, news, and social media.

You should spend as many days as possible, before your Ayahuasca ceremony, doing activities such as: meditation, mindfulness practice and yoga to mention a few. Contemplation walks through forests, mountains, riverbanks, ocean shores. Also take a walk at sunrise and sunset to receive solar energy, walk at night, it is much better if it is a full moon, so you fully receive the energy of the stars and planets. Start connecting directly with nature, even before your appointment with Ayahuasca.

It is very risky and can bring you a bad experience; if you don’t do your diet responsibly and strictly.
