This Pacaya Samiria tour starts at 8 in the morning. Your tour guide will pick you up from the reception of your hotel or from the airport. Then you will be driven for 1 hour and 30 minutes from Iquitos to Nauta, a fluvial port where you take a motor boat for 3 hours and 30 minutes along the Marañon river to the first Pacaya Samiria checkpoint. Here you will obtain your entry permit to the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve, which it is controlled and regulated by the SERNANP (National Service of Natural Protected Areas). Afterwards you will navigate 30 minutes observing many types of herons in the river bank. Upon arrival to the community of Buenos Aires, the native Cocama people will give a charming welcoming. Here also you will have a delicious jungle dish in the community.
In the afternoon you will navigate the Yanayacu-Pucate river in order to appreciate gray and pink dolphins and seasonal birds such as: toucans, macaws, seagulls, kingfishers and Camungos. Also, you will be able to spot tapirs, charapitas or jungle turtles, capybaras and peccaries. The you will return to a house in Buenos Aires, where you will spend the night. At night you will take a night walk in the jungle, in order to appreciate the nocturnal fauna (tarantulas, snakes, scorpions and night monkeys).

Today you will explore Pacaya Samiria jungle in a canoe. You will paddle a canoe throughout the Huayllas river where you will spot sloths and some prehistoric birds known as Shanshos. Then you will return to Buenos Aires to have a nutritious breakfast. After you have to pack all your belongings, due today you will take a motor boat for 1 hour and 30 minutes to the Alvan ravine, which is a strategic point in the Pacaya Samiria tour to spot wildlife. You will walk through the jungle forest where the tour guide will explain about the medicinal plants like the cat’s claw, dragon’s blood, uvos, among others. At night you will head to the river bank to spot caimans, animals that are very active during the night waiting for their thirsty preys. Then you will have dinner and a tea time while your guide is sharing Peruvian jungle stories with you and your loved ones.

Your last day in Pacaya Samiria, the protected Amazon jungle of Iquitos. After an exquisite breakfast, you will go to a portion of the river to carry out artisanal fishing with hooks, arrows and machetes. Among the varieties of fish that can be caught are piranhas, river sardines, tucunares and catfishes. Then you will return to the native community where a delicious lunch will be waiting for you. You can also fry or steam the fish you have caught with local ingredients. Also, the native people of Buenos Aires will teach you how to prepare the famous yucca beer, called Masato. Afterwards, you will board a motor boat and a car that takes you to Iquitos, where you will arrive around 18:00 PM. We will drop you off at your hotel or the airport if you have a flight scheduled for that day.
