Specifically, in the Manu National Park, just 5 hours from Cusco and Machu Picchu. We carry out Ayahuasca rituals at night, since the night helps with its mysticism to create more intense visions.

After doing yoga, meditation and mindfulness, we start with the Ayahuasca ceremony around 8:00 pm. and we end up about 12 or 1 in the morning.

Before taking Ayahuasca

The session starts at 8:00 pm. usually, the schedule is established by the Master Ayahuasquero (shaman). It begins with a brief ritual of cleaning and protection of the Maloca (round house where Ayahuasca ceremonies are performed) and of the participants. This ceremony is also performed to invoke the spirit of mother Ayahuasca and all ethereal beings, in addition to protecting you from negative energies, frequencies and vibrations. During this ritual, the shaman will blow organic tobacco around the Maloca and the participants.

Before beginning the Ayahuasca ritual, the Ayahuasquero will blow rapé through your nose; rapé, is a powder made from ancient plants from the Amazon whose essential component is tobacco, is a physical and spiritual medicine that helps cleanse the pineal gland, a part of the body that connects the human being directly with energy.

The participant’s attitude plays a very important role during dizziness control. Silence, concentration and the senses in general are extremely sensitive. The darkness is favorable to have a better management of the visions during the trance.

Ingesting Ayahuasca in the Maloca

Depending on the Ayahuasquero master and Ayahuasca retreat, will be the diet you´ll follow, the day you will take Ayahuasca brew. In the case of Ikaro Ayahuasca Retreat and our Matsigenkas and Ashaninkas shamans, at breakfast our diet is based on vitamins, protein and vegetable and organic carbohydrates and at lunch is a small diet based on fruit and salad. It is from this moment that you can no longer eat any type of food. Some retreats carry out an intense fast the day the Ayahuasca is taken, in our case and on the advice of our shamans, we offer very controlled vegetable diets, since you need energy for the intense ceremony with the mother Ayahuasca. Finally, at night the Master Ayahuasquero serves the concoction to each participant. The amount of concoction that is supplied to each patient is varied and is carried out through an analysis of Ikaro Ayahuasca Retreat and our shamans on your physical structure, your experience with other sacred plants, your emotions and the severity of your illness or reason that leads you to take Ayahuasca. Immediately or after about 30 minutes some participants will begin to vomit (purge) and go into a trance; however, some participants need more than 1 or 2 doses for the Ayahuasca mother to start breaking down their barriers and working on them. This ceremony is conducted by the shaman, who is in charge of invoking ethereal beings and controlling the energies, frequencies and vibrations of each patient; at the same time the shaman will sing Ikaros (magic chants that lead the Ayahuasca visions and teachings), each Ikaro is created by a shaman and therefore is unique and unrepeatable.

Behavior within the Ayahuasca ritual

Within the Maloca and in general throughout the duration of the Ayahuasca retreat, the participants must respect and use appropriate codes and norms, which is essential to guarantee the correct development of the ritual and in general of all the activities and rituals that take place in the Ayahuasca program.

Closure of the Ayahuasca session

After the opening experience and the visions during the Ayahuasca (trance) session. The effects of the medicine begin to recede and as they leave that experience, fatigue appears and an inability to describe the state reached during the ceremony. At the end of the session, the shaman sings a closing Ikaro called Arcana. The participant is advised not to eat food until breakfast the next day.

All the time our coordinators will be supporting you in everything you need, our services are door to door and with quality of service 24/7.

Cusco and Peru in general is a dog country, according to the Washington Post, in Peru there is a population of about 4 million dogs and 2 million cats (Peru has a population of 33 million inhabitants). Unfortunately, many of these puppies and kittens are strays. We are sure that with the help of all our friends and clients, all our projects will come true.

Home Page How are our Ayahuasca rituals?
